The Insurance and Risk SIG provides AGI members with a forum to discuss and explore the use of geographical information and geospatial technologies within the insurance and risk sectors.
The AGI Foresight Report predicted the rise of GIS and location information in the insurance sector and this can now be seen in the advanced use of geography by all the major insurers and suppliers to the industry.
The Insurance and Risk SIG aims to:
1. foster a community around the use of geographic information for insurance and risk
2. provide examples of best practice in the use of geographic information and geospatial technologies in the insurance industry
3. help members explore the relationship between the geographic information industry and the insurance industry.
4. liaise between the public, private and academic sectors on the sharing of risk information related to natural hazards etc.
