UK Location Roadshow 2010

Delivering value to the UK through wider access to location information

What does 2010 mean for you and your plans for implementing the UK Location Strategy and meeting your obligations under INSPIRE? Much has been changing in the world of location since the start of the year. INSPIRE, now part of UK legislation, sets out a timetable this year and next for data providers, covered by the INSPIRE themes, to develop discovery and view services to allow users to find the data on offer. January’s announcement of the data.gov.uk website has brought the value of better linking of public data to the front pages of the media. The interest over wider access to public sector data was heightened with the recent announcement that some of the Ordnance Survey datasets would be included as part of the OS OpenData programme.

The UK Location Programme invites you to find out about what this all means for you by coming along to its 2010 UK Location Roadshow. Running across the UK in a series of locally accessible locations, it provides a mix of presentation and discussion based topics. The sessions are designed that even if you just need a high level overview then you will get this from our morning session – allowing the afternoon session to explore the topics in a more interactive discussion format.

The day will have something for all interests – whether you are a data provider, data user or a supplier of systems and services - to achieve the end goal of publishing and using location data. By attending the sessions you will learn:
- what steps you need to make if required to take action by INSPIRE
- what you can do if you are looking for better access to location information as part of building your own location strategy
- how initiatives like the UK Location Programme and data.gov.uk are working together on and what that means for you

2010 is when the UK Location Strategy and INSPIRE will start to make a real difference to your organisation. Make sure you are prepared. Book your place for one of the events as soon as possible. Each venue has a limited capacity and places will be offered on a first come first served basis.

This event will be held on the following dates:
8th June - Belfast
10th June - Manchester
17th June - London
