AGI GeoCommunity '10: Second Plenary Speaker Announced

AGI is pleased to announce its second plenary speaker for AGI GeoCommunity ’10, Lai Wah Co.

Lai Wah Co is Head of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) Economic Analysis Group, responsible for the organisation’s work on monitoring UK and international economic developments, overseeing the UK economic forecast and analysis of business surveys, and informing the CBI’s stance on monetary policy. She joined the CBI in 2001, becoming Head of Economic Analysis in April 2008. Lai is frequently quoted in the global media on international business and economic affairs.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Lai as a Plenary Speaker to this year’s AGI GeoCommunity conference” said Chris Holcroft, AGI Director. “Whilst we have a very diverse mix of ‘geo’ content at this year’s event, we cannot avoid the economic climate facing all organisations. When talking about ‘Opportunities in a Changing World’ what better way to round-off our programme than with an economic perspective from the organisation whose mission is to help create and sustain the conditions in which businesses in the UK can compete and prosper for the benefit of all?” he added.

In May AGI announced that Dr Andrew Hudson Smith of CASA and Editor-in-Chief of Future Internet Journal would also be an AGI GeoCommunity ‘10 plenary speaker. His work has featured widely in the media including, most recently, New Scientist, BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 5. His recent projects include MapTube, TalesofThings and SurveyMapper, he is also author of the digital urban blog which attracts over 2000 daily readers and was recently voted one of the Top 5 Web 2.0 Blogs by PC Pro Magazine.
