The AGI is extremely pleased to announce that the final plenary session of the AGI GeoCommunity '12 conference will be presented jointly by speakers from LOCOG, Transport for London and the Olympic Delivery Authority. The three speakers will address GI and London 2012 from their respective positions.

"London 2012 fired up massive enthusiasm around the globe, AGI GeoCommunity delegates can hear first-hand the role played by GI in all this. It is terrific to get these three speakers involved." said Chris Holcroft, AGI Director.

The three plenary speakers are as follows:

Shaun Bennett - GIS Manager, LOCOG

Shaun Bennett oversees all mapping production for spectators, athletes, press and media and for the support LOCOG functional areas in their operational planning. He leads a team of GIS Analysts, CAD technicians, cartographers and graphic designers producing spatial datasets, detailed designs and mapping for public communications to support the delivery of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London. Shaun trained as a cartographer at Ordnance Survey before moving on to work as a GIS analyst for a transport consultancy where he worked on planning for sporting events including Wembley and the Emirates Stadium.

Richard Hartley - Games Geographical Information Manager, Transport for London

Richard Hartley is the Games Geographical Information Manager at Transport for London, with responsibility for leading a team of GIS specialists to support the delivery and operation of TfL’s Olympic and Paralympic workstreams. In this role, Richard led on the production of operational maps, spatial analysis and GIS datasets for the Olympic Route Network within London and for the crowd and traffic management measures associated with the Games Road Events and Central London Zone.  Richard has worked at TfL since 2005, starting on the transport planning graduate scheme before specialising in GIS. He holds an MSc. in Applied GIS from Kingston University.

Carl Turner - Spatial Data Manager, ODA

Since 2008, Carl has worked as Spatial Data Manager for the ODA Transport, managing the spatial database and CAD and GIS systems, which are shared with users from TfL and LOCOG. He is responsible for ensuring effective data sharing with key stakeholders, as well as carrying out complex spatial analysis tasks across a range of projects. Carl completed an MSc in Geographical Information Systems, in 2005, at the University of Leeds. He spent time working as a GIS Developer for Oxford Retail Consultants and Arup, before joining the ODA.

AGI GeoCommunity '12: Sharing the Power of Place will be held at East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham on 18 - 20 September 2012.

AGI GeoCommunity is the largest and most comprehensive independent conference in the UK digital mapping and geospatial calendar. The conference provides real insight and leadership in current geographic information and location based issues via a range of keynote addresses and conference papers as well as by hands on training and face to face delegate networking.

The AGI GeoCommunity series has a proven reputation as a 'must-attend' event for a range of service delivery managers and information management and technology professionals. Previous delegates and speakers have been drawn from Central and Local Government, Utilities, Health, Emergency Services, Infrastructure, Insurance, Marketing, Business Intelligence, Finance and Technology sectors.

AGI GeoCommunity '12 will open on the 18th September with the popular pre-conference 'Icebreaker' evening event and offer two full days of thought leadership, practical education, knowledge transfer and real world best practice and case studies.

AGI GeoCommunity ‘11 attracted 450 delegates. The residential format, introduced in 2007, is now well established and the event has proven its growth and sustainability. Feedback from last year’s delegates indicated that 97% of those polled thought the event offered value for money and 89% felt it fulfilled their expectations. 97% said the venue was ‘good’ or ‘excellent.
