AGI Northern Ireland event review: Annual Conference in association with Belfast City Council.

Location: Belfast City Hall
This event was AGI Northern Irelands main event for 2011 and the committee were able to arrange a joint partnership with Belfast City Council who provided great facilities for use on the day. This helped to lower the anticipated costs in comparison with previous locations such as W5. The Conference showed that AGI Northern Ireland could work in association with other interested organisations in order to provide great seminars and presentations whilst building relationships and inviting more people to join the AGI.
The conference was titled: “Land and Property Information: More than just Asset Management” and aimed at highlighting the extensive usage of GIS in land/asset management across the NI Economy, and to illustrate the need for a more structured and joined-up approach.
The event was a success with over 80 people in attendance and gained good responses back after surveys were conducted. The event attracted a range of people with students, local and central Government as well as Private industries being represented.
On the presentations side there were great presentations from a number of organisations within Northern Ireland as well as a great opening speech from Dr Robert Barr. Presentations from the event can be found online: http://www.agi.org.uk/past-events/month/october-2011
There was only one exhibitor at the conference –thanks to SERC for exhibiting their GIS courses.
