Welcome to the Marine & Coastal SIG webpages. Over the coming months these pages will develop with information added about hot topics in the marine and coastal zone. We also intend to provide links to case studies that might interest members and provide sources of further information that would be of interest to the GI community.
The mission of the Marine and Coastal Zone SIG is to establish marine and coastal information as a common theme linking cross-sectoral interests, and to actively promote this aim to government policy makers and other stakeholder groups.
Our objectives are:
To promote marine and coastal geospatial information to allow stakeholders to develop their understanding and awareness of the enabling role geospatial information plays in their activities.
To provide a mechanism to collate and channel opinion, relating to policy, between the relevant stakeholders.
To provide a platform for debate and discussion on GI topics affecting the marine and coastal zone community focusing on overcoming practical issues.
To facilitate the feedback of marine and coastal zone stakeholder interests to AGI
Establish active two-way communication with appropriate government legislative and policy makers as a means of influencing national and international debate and decision making.
Please join this SIG to be kept informed about current information relating to the marine and coastal environment and so that we can keep you informed about upcoming events that may be of interest.
