Application Criteria
Successful applicants must:
- Be a Fellow of RGS-IBG. You can apply for Fellowship at the same time as applying for Chartered Status and the £30 Fellow administration fee will be waived.
- Demonstrate a minimum of 6 years full time experience in using geographical skills and knowledge in the workplace since graduation.
- Hold an Honours degree or BEd in Geography or related subject or have 15 years of geographical experience.
- Clearly demonstrate that they are undertaking a range of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) activities e.g. conference attendance, training courses, published work.
- Specifically address the requirements for validation, and justify in theProfessional Self-Evaluation why they want to become a CGeog and what they have to offer.
- Continue CPD once CGeog status has been gained: an annual CPD log of 35 hours (20 external and 15 internal) must be submitted.
- Pay annual fee of £20 for CGeog and an annual fee for Fellow membership.
- Subsequently submit a suitable CPD record each year and pay the annual CGeog and Fellow membership fee in order to continue using the CGeog post-nominal.
