Chris Boreland – Fugro BKS  cboreland@bks.co.uk

Obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in GIS in early 2006 through the University of Ulster. Prior to this I had studied Geography at Queens and the Open University.
 
Joined BKS Surveys Ltd in June 2006 as the Business Development Manager for Northern Ireland and Scotland. My main responsibilities involve maintaining our existing client portfolio and the development of relationships with potential new business within the market place. In 2008 BKS Surveys Ltd was purchased by the Fugro Group. With this purchase BKS has become part of the large survey organisation in the world with over 14,000 staff based in 300 offices worldwide. BKS is part of Fugro’s Geospatial Division and is involved in the acquisition, production and delivery of imagery and mapping products using all types of remote sensing platforms including satellites, digital cameras and laser mapping sensors. This year I have taken on the role of BDM for all of Ireland which has been challenging!


Maire Brolly - NI Statistics and Research Agency  Maire.Brolly@dfpni.gov.uk

Máire is a principal statistician in the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency and a Maths, Stats and Computing graduate of the University of Ulster.  Maire is responsible for a small GI unit within NISRA whose role is to promote the use of GI in the creation of robust statistics at small geographical areas.  She is also responsible for the NINIS website www.ninis.nisra.gov.uk.

Malcolm Calvert – Rivers Agency  Malcolm.Calvert@dardni.gov.uk

Malcolm is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the British Computer Society.  He has over 20 years experience of working with Geographical Information Systems, and is currently in charge of the Modelling & Mapping Unit within DARD Rivers Agency.  The Unit are responsible for river & coastal modelling and production of flood maps; and for corporate GI management within the Agency.

Marielle O'Lone – Mouchel  marielle.colhoun@mouchel.com

Marielle is a GIS Manager with Mouchel, a consulting and business services group. She is a GIS professional with almost 10 years experience as a consultant, specialising in GIS and land information management, in a wide range of private and public sectors. She has been a member of the AGI Northern Ireland Regional Executive Committee since December 2008. Marielle is also a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society(RGS) and a member of the RGS-IGB Northern Ireland Regional Group.

Therese has a Master of Science Degree in Spatial Regeneration, and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degree in Environmental Planning, both from Queen’s University Belfast.  Therese  has worked for Translink, Northern Ireland’s Public Transport Operator, for the past 5 years  She commenced her career in the Marketing and Planning Divisions, and has recently taken up post of sole GIS Officer for the company in the Information Services Division; providing enhanced GIS planning and administrative support for the business.

Aiden Gallagher –

Master of Science Degree in Computing & Information Systems from University of Ulster, as well as a  Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degree in Environmental Planning and a Post – Graduate Diploma in Town & Country Planning from Queen's University of Belfast. He is a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and was Expert Advisor to the RTPI Geographical Analysis (GIS) Panel for several years. He is a Consultant and Accredited Trainer in both IBM SPSS Statistics Predictive Analytics software and MapInfo GIS Geographical Analytics software. He has worked for over 17 years as Data Analyst Consultant.

Brian Galloway – Land and Property Services  Brian.Galloway@dfpni.gov.uk

Brian qualified with a BSC in Geology and Geography from University of Ulster. He worked in the Oil Industry for Schlumberger for several years mostly offshore West Africa and onshore Spain. Since then have worked for Ordnance Survey Northern Ireland (OSNI) for 20+ years. He is now responsible for ensuring the Northern Ireland Civil Service maximises the use of Land and Property Service OSNI data and has been the LPS rep on AGINI for a couple of years now.

Patrick McGarry - NI Housing Executive  patrick.mcgarry@nihe.gov.uk

Patrick is the Corporate GIS Manager in NIHE. He is responsible for developing and implementing the organisations Corporate GIS Strategy. He has over 15 years experience working in the GIS industry. Qualifications include a Geography degree at Queens of Belfast  and postgraduate qualifications in both Digital Cartography (PG Dip) and GIS (MSc).

Dr David McIlhatton is currently employed in the School of the Built Environment at the University of Ulster. He has been actively involved in GIS for approximately 6 years and joined the AGI Northern Ireland committee in December 2008 where he represents the education sector. His current role involves the delivery of GIS teaching across courses in the School of the Built Environemnt and is also heavily involved in research involving both real estate and GIS.

Philip is Cadcorp’s (www.cadcorp.com) regional representative in Northern Ireland.  A graduate in Geography at Queens University Belfast and with an MSc in GIS at the University of Ulster, Philip has worked with organisations throughout the UK and Ireland in his roles as GIS technical specialist and Trainer at Cadcorp.

Ken Webb – South East Regional College  KWebb@serc.ac.uk

Ken has a wide and varied professional background, including working in Central Government, Local Government and the Private Sector.  His extensive roles have included leading and managing diverse areas from PPP/PFI projects, through national advertising campaigns to international sales in Agri-food industry and IT consultancy. 

Ken is a former student of the FE College in Lisburn, a qualified teacher, and Chartered Accountant.  He holds a number of further qualifications from Queen’s University Belfast, University of Ulster and Warwick University Business School.

Harry Whan – Eastern Group of Environmental Health Committee  harry.whan@egehc.co.uk

In March 2007 Harry took up the position of Emergency Planning Co-ordinator for the Eastern Group of Environmental Health Committee in order to develop structures and plans in line with the Civil Contingencies Act and the Ministerial Guidance of the Civil Contingencies Framework (NI).

Having been involved with emergency response/planning his entire career and led in the creation, management and development of an EPS Branch for the past 10 years he was recently appointment National Director of Communications for EPS.

Harry completed a Masters in Public Administration at the University of Ulster achieving a distinction and also obtained distinction at Queens University in a Certificate in Emergency Planning.

Simon Wheeler (AGINI Chair) – NI Planning Service  Simon.Wheeler@doeni.gov.uk

Simon is the current AGINI Chairperson. He is a GIS Administrator within DoE Planning Service.  A member of AGINI since its inception, and presently the Secretary of the Steering Group. Previous experience using GIS within Coastal Research (Cambridge University), Water Quality Management Planning (Environment & Heritage Service), electricity networks (NIE), and general GI consultancy over a 15 year period (particularly the forestry sector).
