Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Geographic Information
Entries for this award will normally be submitted by a user rather than a vendor but the user - vendor relationship will be an important element of the judging.
Who is Eligible?
This award is open to all Geographic Information (GI) users in the UK.
What is Eligible?
GI implementations that have:
Become operational during 2011/12 until closing date of application
Improved levels of service
Reduced Costs
Created new opportunities/revenue streams (to include markets such as LBS)
How will it be judged?
Judges will require entries to show how:
The submission relates to an innovative project within GI which is live by the closing date of application.
This project represents a robust solution to a business need and has improved service levels, reduced cost or both.
This project was installed to time and budget.
In addition the Judges will look for the following features:
Smooth implementation
Evidence that the users are highly satisfied
Evidence of added value through the use of GI, e.g. improved speed of information, retrieval, combination of datasets not easily combined manually.
Satisfactory levels of support and training
New areas of application of GI
The Judges will require the following information to be provided
Brief synopsis of the project and the problems it was designed to resolve and/or the benefits it was designed to deliver
What were the objectives of the project
What are the major technology components which form the project?
Is the project now fully implemented?
If not how much of the project is implemented at the time of writing?
Please describe the benefits to the organisation and/or their customers, with reference to the judging criteria below:
General aspects of excellence, innovation and improved business performance in the management of business information
Enablement of the delivery of new or improved products or services
Originality - what features of the project were particularly original or innovative?
Costs savings achieved
Streamlining and increased efficiency of business processes
Increased accuracy in business decision making
Delivery of other tangible or intangible business benefits - please describe
When must I submit my application?
All applications must be submitted, preferably as a Word document by email and must be received by mid-day Friday 28th September 2012. Applications after this date will not be accepted.
Where will the Awards Ceremony be held?
The AGI Annual Awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday 27th November 2012 at Ordnance Survey, Southampton.
