Maps@Mouchel Wins Medal at 2009 UK IT Industry Awards

Maps@Mouchel, the project to implement Maps@ within the consulting and business services group Mouchel, has been awarded a medal at the prestigious 2009 IT Industry Awards. The project beat off stiff competition from 10 other finalists to win second place in the Innovative Project of the Year category.

Sarah James, Senior GIS Consultant at Mouchel, said: 'We are absolutely delighted with this result. Maps@Mouchel has been a groundbreaking project for us, which required a great deal of care and attention to detail. It involved meticulous planning with the team from Maps@ as well as consultations across all of the divisions within Mouchel. This award is deserved recognition for everyone involved and justification for all the hard work put into the project.'

Maps@ was implemented at Mouchel after the company identified significant potential for time and cost savings by automating its geospatial data management processes. Mouchel also realised that it needed to reduce the risk of digital rights infringement in the organisation caused by the difficulty of keeping track of data usage as well as the uncontrolled use of free web map sites.

The Maps@ software provided solutions to these problems by utilising ground-breaking 'licence-logic' processing combined with leading-edge data management functionality and the very latest in web-enabled technology. It vastly simplified the process of managing, storing, displaying and serving geospatial data and reduced the risk of digital rights infringements, providing an internal internet map viewing tool and controlling the use of data to specific properly licensed projects.

Jason Jones, Sales Manager for Maps@, said: 'This is a brilliant result. We always knew we had a great solution backed up by a great team and, when you combine this with the wonderful group of specialists at Mouchel, well the result speaks for itself. To say that we are incredibly proud is an understatement.'
