SSi Solutions Ltd utilise Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) for MIS and GIS
As part of the recent order from Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service to provide a Management Information System (MIS), SSi Solutions has developed a portal based SharePoint solution to allow UK Fire Services to intelligently address the needs and requirements of Integrated Risk Management Planning (IRMP).
The solution integrates SSI products such as Incident Recording System, Fire Job Management and Hydrant Management Systems to provide cross system reporting, GIS thematic reporting and user defined benchmarks to allow brigades to make key decisions on data and statistics. These reports can also be easily created by users against any product(s) by using simple drag and drop methods.
‘Due to the nature and power SharePoint provides, other business processes can also be linked and the in-built Workflow module allows management to channel resources and address problem areas through this Single Portal application. Microsoft SharePoint’s tight integration with Microsoft Office is also an excellent platform for Team Collaboration such as debriefs, training and competency tracking’ said James Secker, Director of Operations at SSi Solutions.
He went on to say ‘The system also leverages Document and Presentation Management principles which link directly with a premises database (such as a National Land and Property Gazetteer). This allows, for example, dashboards of key information to be delivered via a single user interface. This could be incidents that have occurred, Home Fire Safety Checks, Fire Safety Audits, premises with no record of a Smoke alarm, CAD or Site Specific Risk Information’ etc.
