Informed Solutions is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a national Framework Agreement by Buying Solutions for Information Management services. The Framework Agreement supports the Government’s efficiency, transparency and open data agendas whilst guarding against the serious security risks of information loss or misuse.
The Information Management Lot is one of a number within the new Digital Continuity Framework, with Informed Solutions achieving the top position in what was a highly competitive evaluation process.
Dr John Alderson, Informed Solutions’ Chairman, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded a Framework Agreement for Information Management, and even more pleased to have topped the evaluation. We are a high-performing mid-tier firm that has been successfully delivering award winning, innovative solutions to government and the public sector for many years. Despite the challenging ma rket, year on year we have continued to invest significantly in our people and business support systems and this strategic approach has helped us enhance and redesign our service offerings so they are cost effective and directly satisfy evolving client needs. This award and in particular attaining top position in the evaluation recognises the quality of service and value for money a high performing SME can provide under the current economic conditions”.
The Digital Continuity Framewo rk has been established to support the Digital Continuity Project, which is being led by the National Archives. The aim of the Project is to ensure that public sector information is complete, available and usable over time and through the numerous changes that evolving systems and services must invariably accommodate. The framewo rk will ensure that government departments have access to a pre-approved pool of vetted suppliers who are able to help them meet all aspects of the recommended digital continuity requirements.
Informed Solutions’ Director of Consulting Services, Seth Finegan, commented: “Digital Continuity is a subject that is gaining increasing prominence: with the pace of technology change, it is very easy to find yourself in a situation where your data becomes “locked” into obsolete technologies or ends up being inaccessible due to licensing costs or restrictions. This presents a range of challenges for the public sector, but also opportunities for the more forward looking. Getting Information Management right at the architectural and strategic level - with a focus on open, interoperable and standards-based systems - will not only maximise the value of your data, but ensure that it is less adversely impacted by technological change over time. As an independent consultancy, this lies at the core of our beliefs and competencies, and we look forward to wo rking with the public sector through this Framework Agreement to deliver genuine cost savings, stakeholder benefits and sensible, value driven innovation”.
Digital Continuity
Digital continuity is the ability to use your information in the way that you need, for as long as you need. Usable information is essential if the public sector is to operate transparently, legally and accountably. The National Archives has a digital continuity service that the public sector can use to manage digital continuity. The service is available from: www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/digitalcontinuity.
