GeoVation Challenge

How Can We Improve Transport in Britain?

This is the challenge being raised by GeoVation, Ordnance Survey’s innovation awards programme which supports geography based ideas that have a social, economic or environmental benefit.  The current Challenge ‘How can we improve transport in Britain? ‘is supported by £150 000 funding from the Ideas in Transit project which is funded by the Technology Strategy Board, the Department for Transport and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. In addition the GeoVation Challenge is also supported by Business in the Community and the Department of Transport’s National Business Travel Network (NBTN), the organisation that promotes workplace travel planning as a way for businesses to reduce carbon emissions and benefit staff.

If you have a great idea that uses geography to address the challenge, you could win a slice of £150 000 to help make it happen. There is also a share of £10 000 for the idea that demonstrates the best use of OS OpenData TM. The Challenge is open until 12.00 noon on 11 February 2011.

Check the GeoVation Challenge website for further details.
