Envitia welcomes Gobe Hobona to the Consultancy Team

Envitia is pleased to announce that Dr Gobe Hobona has joined Envitia as a Technical Consultant. He will be part of Envitia’s growing consultancy team supporting business development, sales, engineering and other operations across the company. Gobe holds a PhD in Geomatics with a thesis on “Wed-based Discovery and Dissemination of Multidimensional Geographic Information”.

Most recently, he was a researcher at the Centre for Geospatial Science (CGS) within the University of Nottingham. While at CGS, he led multiple work packages on the INSPIRE-based GIS4EU project, developing complete processes for harmonising data. He was also involved in the GIGAS project as a contractor to the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), providing expertise on the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS). In addition to the OGC, he also provided consultancy to Lockheed Martin on the Common Geospatial Tool Set (CGTS) programme.

After completing his PhD, Gobe worked as researcher at the School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences within Newcastle University. His research at Newcastle University focused on integrating OGC web services within Grid computing platforms using business workflow technology. Gobe has more than 20 publications on geospatial topics such as spatial data infrastructure, location based services, geospatial cloud computing and ontologies.
