Productivity gains anticipated from a redesigned user interface

Stevenage, Herts., 31st March, 2011 – Cadcorp, the UK based developer and supplier of GIS and web mapping software, gave its business partners a preview of the next release of SIS 7 software, at its International Partner Conference held in Amsterdam earlier this month. Interest centred especially on a new user interface, and new web mapping and GIS products.

The Royal Tropical Museum, Amsterdam, was a fitting venue for the international conference.  Cadcorp business partners travelled from as far as Mexico, the USA, Australia and Japan to share their experiences and to get a preview of the next release of Cadcorp SIS.

Martin Daly, Technical Director, Cadcorp, explained that Cadcorp has completely redesigned the interface of its desktop GIS products, Map Modeller, Map Editor, Map Manager, Map Viewer, Map Reader and Map Browser. “The new user interface will not only make it easier for all of our users to tap into the rich GIS functionality that has always been present in Cadcorp SIS, but will also allow them to make significant productivity gains at the same time.“

Application Development Manager, Steve Cox, also gave a preview of Cadcorp’s new web mapping and web GIS applications designed for both public and corporate use. “The new internet products Cadcorp Web Map Layers and Cadcorp Web Map Express, are Cadcorp’s response to our end users’ requests for simple, fast, intuitive interfaces, and a technology that still provides powerful analytical tools. They also meet our business partners’ needs for extensibility. Corporate users have rather different requirements for web mapping and web GIS.  We have designed Web Map Viewer & Editor as intranet products specifically to meet their needs.”

Conference delegates were also given a preview of Cadcorp’s new offerings for hot-spot mapping and INSPIRE-compliant metadata management, both of which are included as part of the core product.

Mike O’Neil, CEO, Cadcorp, underlined the significance of its partners to Cadcorp’s business success. “We are very fortunate to be represented by companies who are experts in their own geographical and vertical markets. Giving our partners a preview of a new software release is hopefully an indication of the value we place on our relationships.”

Cadcorp SIS 7.1 will be released in May.
