UK Gazetteer Best Practice Day announced for 24th February 2010

Old Woking, Surrey 15th December 2009 - After a hugely successful event at Cardiff Council in October, the date for the second UK Gazetteer Best Practice Day has been announced as 24th February 2010.

The event, that is sponsored by Gazetteer Specialists Aligned Assets and held in association with GEO:connexion UK, will be hosted by the London Borough of Southwark and is designed for all people involved in either gazetteer management directly or those who use gazetteer data such as GIS specialists.

The first NLPG reseller unveiled as Aligned Assets

Bluesky Rediscovers 1949 Aerial Survey of London

Leicestershire, UK, 09 December 2009 - Aerial survey specialist Bluesky has uncovered a series of 1949 original aerial survey photographs covering the whole of Greater London. Revealing the capital in the post war period, landmarks that we take for granted today are pictured under construction; Battersea Power Station has only three out of it's four chimneys while the Royal Festival Hall, whose foundation stone was laid that year, is a 1940's building site. The photographs were rediscovered following an agreement between Bluesky and Blom Aerofilms which will see these images, part of the UK's largest collection of commercial aerial survey images, available online at www.oldaerialphotos.com.
