Cadcorp Partners get a preview of the next release of Cadcorp software

Productivity gains anticipated from a redesigned user interface

Stevenage, Herts., 31st March, 2011 – Cadcorp, the UK based developer and supplier of GIS and web mapping software, gave its business partners a preview of the next release of SIS 7 software, at its International Partner Conference held in Amsterdam earlier this month. Interest centred especially on a new user interface, and new web mapping and GIS products.

The Royal Tropical Museum, Amsterdam, was a fitting venue for the international conference.  Cadcorp business partners travelled from as far as Mexico, the USA, Australia and Japan to share their experiences and to get a preview of the next release of Cadcorp SIS. 

Martin Daly, Technical Director, Cadcorp, explained that Cadcorp has completely redesigned the interface of its desktop GIS products, Map Modeller, Map Editor, Map Manager, Map Viewer, Map Reader and Map Browser. “The new user interface will not only make it easier for all of our users to tap into the rich GIS functionality that has always been present in Cadcorp SIS, but will also allow them to make significant productivity gains at the same time.“

Cadcorp opens the GeoDATA 2011 road show at the Emirates Stadium, London

Cost savings through sharing spatial data and software

Stevenage, Herts. 31st March, 2011 – Almost two hundred GIS specialists were present to hear how the UK based developer and supplier of GIS and web mapping software, has been working with customers to help them make cost savings by sharing their GIS resources.

Cadcorp Marketing Manager, Richard Spooner, made a plea for the industry to stop hugging spatial data and spatial software, and start sharing. “The GIS industry can no longer use technical barriers to justify the duplication of resources” he argued. “We don’t have to wait for top-down reorganisation to bring about change. Collaboration - within and between organisations – is often all it takes, and this is something which GIS professionals can promote themselves.”

Wiltshire Police selects Cadcorp to provide corporate GIS 

New system to underpin location based applications throughout the Force

Stevenage, Herts., 3rd March, 2011 – Cadcorp, the UK based developer and supplier of GIS and web mapping software, has been selected by Wiltshire Police to deliver location-based information to many applications across the Force.

Cadcorp technology will play a key role in the police force’s ICT infrastructure.  The software will:

-       provide sophisticated modelling and analytical capabilities for Crime and Intelligence Analysis

-       deliver live locational data to the Wiltshire Police Command and Control system

-       be used for tracking both personnel and vehicles in the force Automatic Resource Location System (ARLS)

-       be used in the Emergency Communications Centre for logging and displaying the location of 999 calls and the response to those calls

-       track the location of non-emergency calls in the Force Contact Centre

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council launches on-line mapping system from Cadcorp

Public access marks the final stage of a corporate GIS rollout

Stevenage, 18th February, 2011 – Weymouth and Portland Borough Council has launched its on-line public mapping system based on the Web Map Layers product from Cadcorp. Sharing geographic information with the general public marks the final stage of corporate deployment of GIS in this popular south coast tourist resort.

“We realised in 2009 that our existing GIS had reached the end of its lifespan.” said Councillor Geoff Petherick, Leader of Weymouth and Portland Borough Council. “We decided we needed a technology which would support our internal business processes, and which we could also use to share geographic information with the general public. Following an extensive procurement exercise, we judged that Cadcorp best met our needs.”
