ESRI (UK) to partner The Royal Geographical Society’s Geography Ambassadors programme

The Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) and ESRI (UK) are launching today a new partnership to support, promote and enhance the Society’s flagship Geography Ambassadors Programme. ESRI (UK) will be the programme’s Corporate Partner.  

Bringing two of the UK’s leading geographical organisations together for the first time, the exciting new partnership will marry the UK’s largest pool of Geographic Information System (GIS) expertise from ESRI (UK), with the nationwide Geography Ambassadors Programme that brings geographical inspiration and knowledge to more than 37,000 young people every year through Ambassador visits to their classrooms. It is a timely partnership, building on the recent introduction of GIS into the curriculum, and the way in which geographers are being sought out by employers for their skills and knowledge.

ESRI UK becomes exclusive UK distributor for TDC’s Freeance Mobile Software

BlackBerry smartphone users will soon be able to view and edit map and location data on the move as ESRI UK becomes the official, exclusive distributor for TDC’s Freeance™ Mobile Software in the UK. 

The application allows public and private sector organisations already using BlackBerry smartphones to maximise their investment in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), opening up live dynamic maps, data collection and location services to their staff.

ESRI President Jack Dangermond awarded Patron’s Medal from Royal Geographical Society

Historic Prize Honors Contributions to Geographic Science and Knowledge

Redlands, California—June 21, 2010—Esri president Jack Dangermond has been honored with the Patron’s Medal by the Royal Geographical Society (RGS). In its official announcement, RGS stated that Dangermond received the award “for his extensive work promoting geographical science through the development of geographic information systems. He is one of the greatest advocates for geography and its key role in understanding and responding to many of the challenges of the twenty-first century.”
