Europa Technologies forms global partnership to launch new coverage map services for the mobile telecom industry

Europa Technologies has today announced two new services for the mobile telecom industry to provide accurate and up-to-date roaming coverage information. These services – Network Insight Pro and Global Coverage Analyzer - are the result of an alliance with American Roamer, the owner of the world’s largest wireless coverage database.

Network Insight Pro is a new and innovative service offering interactive coverage maps of the world for seamless display on a mobile operator’s web site. It is a major upgrade to the company’s existing Network Insight service, which was commended in the prestigious GSM Awards under the category "Best roaming product or service". The service provides cost savings to operators by promoting Channel Shift - allowing subscribers to check roaming coverage via a web site, rather than make a call to customer services. Network Insight Pro is ideal for mobile network operators, MVNOs, roaming hubs, SIM roaming providers and phone rental companies.

The service supports both domestic and international coverage and a wide range of mobile voice/data telecommunication technologies. It is fully interactive, allowing the user to explore the map freely, or go straight to an area of interest using the comprehensive search function. As standard, the service includes logo placement and corporate colour branding.

As part of the partnership, Europa Technologies has access to American Roamer’s catalogue of over 1200 well-maintained coverage patterns for 2G, 3G and 4G networks worldwide.

Europa Technologies extends viaEuropa service to support AddressBase™

Europa Technologies has today announced an extension of its popular viaEuropa hosted map service to support AddressBase - the new definitive spatial address data for England and Wales.

The announcement means the geo solutions provider is the first Ordnance Survey licensed partner to utilise AddressBase in a cartographic capacity since its launch on 30 September 2011.

viaEuropa provides a quick and easy way for applications to access high-quality Ordnance Survey maps online. The inclusion of AddressBase will help a wide range of organisations access the most up-to-date link between every address in England and Wales and its location ‘on the map’.

The data in AddressBase is provided by GeoPlace, a public sector limited liability partnership between the Local Government Group and Ordnance Survey. Data from GeoPlace is provided to Ordnance Survey enabling it to create the range of AddressBase products for England and Wales, providing one definitive source of publicly-owned spatial address data. This data combines local government’s National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG), Ordnance Survey’s OS MasterMap Address Layer 2, data from the Valuation Office Agency and Royal Mail’s Postcode Address File (PAF).

Europa Technologies’ move has been welcomed by Ordnance Survey, who launched the AddressBase range of products. John Kimmance, Head of Sales at Ordnance Survey, said: “Ordnance Survey Licensed Partners are a key enabler to maximising the value customers can achieve through the use of the AddressBase products.  The inclusion of AddressBase within viaEuropa is a great example of how an organisation can get rapid access to definitive, comprehensive address information. I am delighted that Europa Technologies have embraced the AddressBase range and will provide the benefits of these products to their customers.”

Europa Technologies helps Welsh Government publish vital flood risk maps

The Welsh Government is publishing essential flood risk mapping after a hosted solution from Europa Technologies was implemented in less than a week.

‘viaEuropa for PSMA’ is a new Data as a Service (DaaS) offering that includes key Ordnance Survey data sets covered by the new Public Sector Mapping Agreement (PSMA).

It gives PSMA signatories access to rendered mapping data ready for immediate customisation and deployment on web, mobile and desktop platforms.

The Welsh Government has chosen viaEuropa for PSMA as a high-performance, cost-efficient way to host, update and maintain the supply of data direct to its public-facing flood risk website http://data.wales.gov.uk/apps/floodmapping/

The solution combines PSMA data with free-to-use OS OpenData, enabling a seamless transition between backdrops at a variety of scales from an all-Wales overview with hill shading down to street level mapping and building footprints.

Data sets involved are Strategi, Land-Form PANORAMA, OS VectorMap District and OS VectorMap Local.

The website, which has an intuitive, easy-to-use interface, is intended to support guidelines for the management of all future building development in flood risk areas.

Warren Vick, Director and Founder of Europa Technologies, said: “The Welsh Government were given a tight timetable by their Minister to publish this mapping which is part of their obligation as a public body. The solution is a prime example of the strength of viaEuropa for PSMA in that we were able to implement it in less than a week having already processed the raw data, rendered it as map tiles and made it ready for deployment”

“viaEuropa for PSMA” service to benefit public sector map users

Europa Technologies has launched a hosted mapping service to deliver time and cost savings to benefit government organisations across England and Wales.

viaEuropa for PSMA is a new online DaaS (Data as a Service) offering that brings high-quality cartography direct to the desktop, web and mobile devices. The service bridges the gap between raw data and fit-for-purpose mapping.  It extends the existing capabilities of viaEuropa services to include key datasets covered by the Public Sector Mapping Agreement (PSMA), including OS VectorMap Local and OS MasterMap® (Topography Layer with ITN).

viaEuropa for PSMA is available to all members of the PSMA, a cross-government initiative involving Ordnance Survey data, from 1 April 2011.

The PSMA introduces a single licence for central government departments, local councils, health organisations and a variety of smaller local public bodies to share common mapping both for internal management and public facing web services.
