London Borough of Harrow uses Royal Mail to improve its Address Intelligence  

London, 08 February 2011 - Harrow Council in north west London has been using the Royal Mail ‘Return to Sender’ (RTS) service to improve the quality of its Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG). The LLPG is a vital corporate resource used increasingly as the single source of addressing by service departments across the council.

Councils mail their residents on a regular basis, to notify changes in service provision, provide up-to-date news and annually for Council Tax. Many Councils use Royal Mail’s RTS, to update their own mailing databases but very often there isn’t the manpower to deal with the returns.

Fenland and Valuation Office Boost Efficiency with the NLPG 

London, 27 January 2011 – UK district council Fenland, in partnership with the local Valuation Office (VO), has introduced award winning new working practices to ensure bills for Non Domestic Rates are issued promptly and to the correct address. Based around the use of the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) as the definitive address list, this has resulted in significant efficiency gains for both organisations, with resulting cashable savings, and improved customer service for businesses in the rural Cambridgeshire district.

Ashfield’s Big Bin Change Goes Online in Nottinghamshire

London, UK, 18 January 2011 – In an attempt to reduce costs and minimise their environmental impact, Ashfield District Council has introduced an award winning revised refuse collection programme.  The project has been supported by an online web application and underpinned by the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG). The new routes were mapped and addresses for each of the 30,000 affected households extracted from the NLPG for an initial mailshot.

London, 13 January 2011 – Chorley Council is using an award winning specially developed web application to access up to date and accurate information about commercial premises.  This information is then used to monitor town centre vacancies and proactively target potential tenants.

Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service Receives Award

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service (FRS)  has received a prestigious award for its integrated application of addressing at  the 2010 NLPG NSG Exemplar Awards. The project has resulted in significant gains  in efficiency and improvements in the delivery of frontline services such as  site assessments, home safety checks and the targeting of essential safety  campaigns.
