Plymouth City Wins Street Naming Award

The UK' City of Plymouth has received a prestigious national award for its street naming and property numbering. The 2010 NLPG Exemplar Naming Award was presented at a one-day conference ‘Everything Happens Somewhere’ held recently in Sheffield, England.

Plymouth City Council takes its street naming and numbering responsibility very seriously. It is a chance to engage with the local community and provides tangible recognition of a local feature or personality.

Publication of updated NLPG Data Entry Conventions Version 3.1

A new data entry convention has been produced  for the UK's National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG).

The NLPG is maintained by the LLPG Custodian and SNN Officer community in their software systems, in accordance with the Data Entry Conventions (DEC) and best practice for the NLPG, known as the DEC-NLPG.

New Ordnance Survey and Local Government joint venture acquires Intelligent Addressing and ends address confusion

London, 03 December 2010 - The Local Government Group and Ordnance Survey have formed a joint venture for the ongoing maintenance of a single definitive national address and street database, currently referred to as the national address gazetteer.  Subject to approval from the Office of Fair Trading, the joint venture, which will be known as GeoPlace LLP, has agreed terms to acquire NLPG Custodian, Intelligent Addressing (Holdings) Limited.  This will give the joint venture access to the company’s intellectual property, software, NLPG and NSG data hubs, and expertise.

West Oxfordshire Voted Overall ‘Exemplar’ 

West Oxfordshire District Council has become the ‘2010 Exemplar’ - the first ‘Overall Winner’ at the 2010 National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) and National Street Gazetteer (NSG) Exemplar Awards. This was the first occasion where conference delegates participated in an interactive vote based on the presentations of the different award category winners. Earlier, West Oxfordshire had won the Citizen Award, cited as the best example of a project delivering services to citizens for its new waste and recycling provision.

2010 NLPG and NSG Exemplar Award Winners Announced

London, 20 October 2010 – Intelligent Addressing and Local Government Information House have announced the winners of the 2010 NLPG and NSG Exemplar Awards. The awards recognise the outstanding achievements of local authorities, local partnerships, police forces and fire and rescue services, in the creation, maintenance and utilisation of the National Land & Property Gazetteer (NLPG) and the National Street Gazetteer (NSG).
