10 June 2008, London. AGI is pleased to announce that the AGI GeoCommunity Conference '08 Programme is now available. The AGI Conference Committee recently met over a two day period at the conference venue in Stratford-Upon-Avon to mark the large number of conference abstracts submitted and assemble a programme. The outcome, a packed agenda of high quality papers, workshops, hands-on sessions, debate and panel discussions can be seen here.
'The theme for this year's conference is 'Shaping a Changing World' which reflects both the contribution that GI is making in our changing world and the way that we are responding to changes in technology and business models.
The quality of this year's papers was outstanding with a wider range of submissions than we have seen previously. The conference team has selected a program of almost 50 sessions across 5 streams which we expect to be stimulating, educational and entertaining. We have responded to feedback from last year by adding more workshops and hands on training sessions and we will also be hosting a special stream and panel discussion on INSPIRE. We are fortunate to have keynote presentations from Vanessa Lawrence, Director General of the Ordnance Survey, Sean Phelan, founder of Multimap, Charlie Pattinson, Head of Resources and Information Management, Environment Agency and Charles Kenelly, CTO, ESRI (UK) and the conference will close with another Big Debate on 'GI going Mainstream - an Own Goal?'
All in all I am confident that we have an even better program for this year's conference. I look forward to welcoming delegates to Stratford in September', said Steven Feldman, AGI GeoCommunity '08 Conference Chairman.
Delegates have been registering at rates ahead of last year's very successful conference which sold out before it opened. Early bird places are limited and we encourage early booking to guarantee a place.
