A brilliant launch for the AGI South Coast Network

What a brilliant launch for the AGI South Coast Network last night! Hosted by Ordnance Survey at Explorer House, we were sold out, bringing together geospatial professionals from across the region for an evening of insight and networking.

Our expert speakers shared incredible perspectives:

Debbie Wilson, Head of Geospatial Data at OS, ran us through Ordnance Survey data workflows and the National Geospatial Database, highlighting new capabilities to capture, refine and access OS data in new ways, making use of computer vision and LLM interfaces.

Professor Andrew Tatem, Director of WorldPop, provided a presentation showing us about their work around the world gathering data on population and buildings from multiple sources to generate detailed demographic for health and development applications.

Paul Clark, Head of Government at Esri, gave us a talk showcasing fantastic examples of how GIS can be inspirational, focusing on demonstrating capabilities to inform and enthuse non-specialists.

It was also great to receive updates on the AGI Early Careers Network from Jamie Heath and the AGI Earth Observation Network from Liz Scott, followed by a brief look at the AGI Awards coming up at GEO Business on June 3rd.

The night finished with some networking and drinks on the balcony, again sponsored by Ordnance Survey. A huge thanks to all who attended!
