The Association for Geographic Information (AGI) is throwing open the doors to its flagship event, GeoCommunity this November with free registration and three interactive online sessions.
Focusing on the theme of geospatial and its role in providing a new vision of sustainability, the 2020 event is free to attend and will be held online from 17 to 19 November.
“With the adoption of technology happening at pace, changing perceptions about data’s role, increasing internationalism and societal calls for change, we’ll be asking are we at the cusp of a revolution or simply continued rapid evolution?” says Abigail Page from the GeoCom20 organising committee.
“From how we plan our urban spaces and critical infrastructure, to managing new approaches to the workforce and the accelerating urgency of net zero – the challenges we face continue to impact us locally and unite us globally. It’s time for geospatial to embrace the Sustainable (R)evolution by providing a new vision of sustainability.”
“If we thought we were living in a time of rapid change last year, 2020 has thrown disruption into a whole new light! We’re taking the best of GeoCommunity content and channelling some of these changes to widen participation and enable as many people as possible to tap into this unique opportunity to connect the UK GeoCommunity through an agenda packed with expert speakers, interactive sessions and networking.”
The AGI is the UK’s largest membership organisation for the geospatial sector with over 1000 individual, student and corporate members. It was founded to influence, inform and act on behalf of its members and to maximise the use of geographic information (GI) for the benefit of all.
