Action Working Groups (AWGs) are used by the AGI to help focus the volunteer effort on a specific task or project. Action Working Groups can be formed to look at a single issue, such as a Government directive or to run an ongoing part of the AGI's engagement such as the events programme.
AWGs are comprised of Council Members and volunteers. The groups are supported by the AGI team. They are mandated by Council to make recommendations and decisions within their remit and are overseen by the Executive Group.
These groups provide the AGI with the flexibility to focus on issues that are important to the organisation and it's members.
There are currently two AWGs active:
The Events AWG has been tasked with co-ordinating the AGI's events programme including this year's programme of 'Geo: The Big 5' events. A key aim of the group is increasing the profile and outreach of the event programme both within and beyond the geospatial community.
The Continuous Professional Development (CPD) AWG have been tasked with reviewing the AGI CPD Scheme. The group will be making recommendations for updating and improving this important scheme to Council.
