Who:

Our PostGIS essentials course is for any database user who has prior GIS experience or has attended the QGIS Essentials course. Knowledge of databases and SQL is desirable.

What:

Introduction to PostgreSQL, PostGIS, pgAdminIII, servers, databases and database objects. Includes best practice and a practical exercise aimed at getting started on interacting with databases through pgAdmin and QGIS.  

The course covers the following topics:

  • Introduction and getting started

  • Loading, exporting and using spatial data

  • Basic Structured Query Language (SQL)

  • Further SQL

  • Geometry accessors and measurements

  • Measurements

  • Spatial relationships and joins

  • Geoprocessing functions
     

When:

PostGIS Essentials is a 2 day course running on the 30th and 31st October from 9:30am until 5:00pm on each day

Where:

Training will take place at our head office in Epsom, Surrey, located on 17, West Street, KT18 7RL. Parking is available upon request and the nearest train station is Epsom Station.
