Aimed at delegates wanting to extend existing data management experience to include
mapping, you will learn how to both produce simple printable maps, generate web maps for
sharing and publication, and could move on to QGIS Essentials for further learning.
This one day course introduces GIS (Geographic Information Systems), combining
key concepts with hands-on experience using QGIS, a free and open source desktop GIS.
The course covers the following topics, using the latest long-term release (LTR) version of QGIS:
● Introduction to location and mapping concepts and terminology
● Location data sources
● Installing and using QGIS
● Styling and visualisation techniques
● Background mapping
● Location data queries and analysis
● Creating and editing data
● Output for print and web
Location Data and Mapping with QGIS is a 1 day course running on the 5th of June
from 9:30am until 5:00pm.
Training will take place at Lockside Meeting Rooms on 5, Scotland Street, Lockside,
