Introduction to PostgreSQL, PostGIS, pgAdminIII, servers, databases and database
objects. Includes best practice and a practical exercise aimed at getting started on
interacting with databases through pgAdmin and QGIS.
Prior GIS experience or attendance on the QGIS Essentials course is a prerequisite. Knowledge of databases and SQL is desirable.
The course covers the following topics:
● Introduction and getting started
● Loading, exporting and using spatial data
● Basic Structured Query Language (SQL)
● Further SQL
● Geometry accessors and measurements
● Spatial relationships and joins
● Geoprocessing functions
PostGIS Essentials is a 2 day course running on the 26th and 27th of June from 9:30am until 5:00pm on each day
