Chair role change

We are pleased to announce that current committee members Matt Webster and Tom Perks are jointly stepping up into the roles of ECN Co-Chairs. Rebecca Taylor has done a fantastic job leading ECN as both co-chair and chair for the past 18 months and will continue to support ECN within an advisory role.

Call for committee members

ECN is on the look out for new committee members to help deliver its mission of providing a platform for communication and collaboration of early career professionals within the geospatial industry.

We are looking for early career professionals to fill the below roles. The roles are a great opportunity to acquire transferable skills and collaborate with a range of geospatial organisations whilst supporting early career professionals. You will be supported by the AGI in your ECN role and can also request a reference for your contribution.

Secretary: The Secretary is responsible for managing ECN’s meetings and helping with external communications, working closely with the AGI Office and the AGI comms lead to ensure a quarterly newsletter is sent to the ECN mailing list as well as any additional comms as necessary before events, etc. The Secretary also takes on the role of ‘Treasurer’ where necessary, although the ECN does not hold any money directly, budgeting and liaison with AGI Council will be required.

Time commitment: Approx 2hrs/week

Event Coordinator(s): Facilitate the organisation and running of the ECN’s events (either virtual or in-person) with responsibilities including booking speakers in liaison with the AGI Council, managing ticketing/attendees and assisting with event delivery.

Time commitment:  Approx 2hrs/ week but varies depending on the event programme (more time will be required in the run up to events)F

Social Media Officer: Social media officers help to bring early career professionals together through ECN’s open social media communications on ECN channels. This role would work alongside our existing social media officer to help share responsibility, create or share interesting content and drive greater reach for the ECN across the UK.

Time commitment:  Approx 2hrs/ week

Northern Ireland Coordinator: Organise and arrange the ECN’s activities within NI, liaising with the ECN Co-Chairs to remain aligned to ECN strategy, and supporting the AGI NI national group. National coordinator roles have responsibility along with the Co-Chairs for maintaining the central aims of the ECN in that region. Sharing successes, insights and lessons learned are vital to help drive improvements across the ECN as a whole.

Time commitment: Approx 2hrs/week

Wales Coordinator: Organise and arrange the ECN’s activities within Wales, liaising with the ECN Co-Chairs to remain aligned to ECN strategy, and supporting the AGI Cymru national group. National coordinator roles have responsibility along with the Co-Chairs for maintaining the central aims of the ECN in that region. Sharing successes, insights and lessons learned are vital to help drive improvements across the ECN as a whole.

Time commitment: Approx 2hrs/week

Committee Roles: We are also open to receiving applications to become a committee member, with no fixed role. Your strengths might be in strategy, having ideas, running a project you are passionate about for geo professionals at the start of their careers, or you might want to volunteer flexibly, around your life and work commitments.

Time commitment: Approx 1hr/week, depending on the activity/ies you want to get involved in
