SUMMARY:GIS and Web Mapping Cloud Migration
DESCRIPTION:With the accelerated adoption of cloud software\, migrating you
r Geographic Information System (GIS) and web mapping to the cloud is appe
aling.\n\nIt comes with clear benefits such as remote access\, better perf
 ormance\, lower costs\, updated capabilities\, and compliant security.\n\n
As part of a cloud migration project\, there are key questions that should
be considered such as:\n\n Where will business data be stored?\n How wi
ll security be managed?\n How does data get updated?\n\nBeing aware of al
l the considerations before starting the process\, can better inform the d
ecision behind selecting cloud services that are suitable for your organis
ation.\n\nFrom their in-depth experience of migrating customers to the clo
ud\, our team of specialists has created a five-point cloud migration che
cklist. By attending this webinar\, you will learn more about this guided
approach\, and from customer examples\, see how it supports straightforwar

SUMMARY:De-mystifying Map Projections - 1 day course
DESCRIPTION:GeoData host a regular series of professional GIS training cour
ses using ArcGIS\, MapInfo and Open Source QGIS software\, ranging from in
troductory level to more advanced courses covering GIS in greater depth.\n
\nThe course is designed to provide GIS professionals with practical train
ing in handling coordinate systems (map projections and datums) within ind
ustry standard GIS packages.\n\nThe course places less emphasis on the mat
hematical theory of map projections and more on what the GIS professional
needs to know in order to handle projections on a day-to-day basis and to
be confident that the projection and parameters used are correct. The cour
se is focussed on practicalities such as knowing when a dataset is correct
ly projected or which projection to choose in a given situation.\n\nCombin
ing a series of short lectures supported by practical exercises within the
GIS\, the exercises themselves are drawn from Frequently Asked Questions
to GeoData’s GIS support line and from other WWW GIS support databases.
This ensures that the course covers the most common difficulties faced by
GIS professionals when data need to be projected or transformed.\n\nThis c
ourse is offered for MapInfo and ArcGIS.\n\nAGI CPD 4 points\n\nClick here
for more information and to register with GeoData Institute directly.\n\n
