Our final EEO-AGIS seminar for 2025 is just round the corner, and we have a great speaker joining us: Will Cadell, founder and CEO of Sparkgeo. Sparkgeo are a Canada-based geospatial consultancy who partner with tech companies to lend them geospatial expertise that is not easily found on-house. In Will’s talk “Strategic Geospatial” he will be building on ideas he shares in his Strategic Geospatial Substack blog and discussing how geospatial should be brought to the centre of business decision making. The seminar will take place in Room 2.13 in the Institute of Geography at 5pm on Wed 3rd December, followed by networking drinks in Ox 184.
Please also note that we will be accessing the Institute of Geography via the rear door in High School Yards. Students will greet you there and point you in the right direction, please find EEO Dec 2025
Looking forward to seeing you in December.
Strategic Geospatial
Will Cadell, Founder and CEO of Sparkgeo
“We forget that geography defines everything we do. Everything is somewhere, and events happen at particular times; that combination of space and time defines much of the human experience. Yet the digital expression of geography, geospatial technology, is often sidelined as something different or alternative. Pushed off into underfunded business units and siloed into special departments, geography is seen as a novel way of looking at a problem. Geographic or spatial thinking should not be novel.
This talk is about how to bring geospatial back to the center of business decision-making as a deeply horizontal activity.”
