The AGI Cymru Committee is pleased to announce that GeoCymru is back on Tuesday 20th October at Glamorgan Cricket ground, Sophia Gardens and followed by GeoBeers nearby at the BrewHouse.
The event will explore how geospatial enables how people can access, explore and benefit from the outdoors in Wales. The outdoor activity sectors contributes £1.6 billion annually to the Welsh economy and supports over 31,000 jobs*, along with the benefits to communities and to individuals mental and physical health.
We will showcase the role and application of geospatial tools, data and services in addressing both the challenges and opportunities related to access to the outdoors and the delivery of services within the outdoor sectors, highlighting how these are enabled by geospatial. This will include contributions from Office of National Statistics on measuring childhood access to greenspace: enabling assessment of impact via Linked Data, and from Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority on the Tirlun outdoors schools platform.
Further contributions will explore how Wales is embracing active travel, making travel more sustainable for communities and visitors alike, and will also explore how geospatial is changing how communities engage with planning, through LUC’s ENAGE3D tool, an immersive visualisation tool to support public consultation on infrastructure including onshore wind projects.
Co-Chair Phil Barlow says that “GeoCymru is an opportunity to connect, learn and share the incredible geospatial work in Wales”.
Following feedback we’re making the event even more accessible with a new ticket price of just £10, for this you get a whole day of presentations, the opportunity to meet our sponsors and expand your networks.
We are also offering a range of sponsorship packages and have already secure support from CGI, Esri UK and Astun Technology.
So come along and explore how geospatial makes the outside come alive.
