On the 22nd January 2015, the Minister of State for Business and Enterprise announced that Ordnance Survey would be changing status from Trading Fund to Government Owned Company at the end of the current financial year.
The Association for Geographic Information (AGI) welcomes the information that Ordnance Survey has made available about this change and its continuing commitment to OS Open Data, Public Sector Mapping Agreement and One Scotland Mapping Agreement.
We also recognise that whilst Ordnance Survey has made some information available about the change, there is still some confusion and concern within the market that needs to be be addressed.
The AGI would like to use its position to support Ordnance Survey in its transition to Government Owned Company and to provide relevant information back to its members to address those concerns and questions that have been raised.
To do this, the AGI Supplier SIG will organise a meeting to discuss the impact of these changes and to capture questions and concerns which can be put forward as part of our ongoing discussions with Ordnance Survey. Details of this meeting will be posted to the AGI website when they are available.
The AGI also welcomes the appointment of Nigel Clifford to the position of Chief Executive Officer of Ordnance Survey and we look forward to working with Nigel to support the growth of the geospatial sector.
