AGI Greater Manchester Network Event – What’s New for 2026

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at the AGI Greater Manchester Network Event at the University of Manchester last week—and to our sponsors, University of Manchester and Informed Solutions, for supporting the event.

It was fantastic to bring together members of the geospatial community to share knowledge, experiences, and ideas shaping the future of our industry.

The evening reflected the breadth and depth of the sector:

  • Innovative research into spatial associations in climate data
  • Practical applications of geospatial technology addressing real-world challenges
  • Honest and inspiring conversations around neurodiversity and inclusion in the workplace

These discussions closely mirror the key themes from the AGI Foresight Report 2030, which highlights the major forces shaping the future of geospatial:

  • The transformation of geospatial data and infrastructure
  • The need for stronger collaboration across sectors
  • A critical shift in skills and a more inclusive, diverse workforce

As a community, we are at a pivotal moment. The choices we make now will shape how geospatial contributes to a sustainable future—and how visible and influential our profession remains. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to read the full Foresight Report.

Thank you again to our speakers, attendees, and partners for making this such a valuable and engaging event.
