We are delighted to share the programme for the upcoming AGI Northern Ireland Annual Conference, “Bridging the Divide: Advancing Geospatial Collaboration and Interoperability” taking place on 12th June 2025 at Riddel Hall, Belfast.
Programme
This year’s conference promises to be an inspiring day of networking and thought-provoking presentations. We’ve received a fantastic response to our call for papers, and the programme is already shaping up to be one of our best yet.
Keynote Announcement
We are thrilled to welcome Ed Parsons, Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), as our keynote speaker who will be presenting “It’s all about the Data – Next Steps on the Voyage of Interoperability”
Conference Highlights
Plenary Session
John Cartledge (KOREC) will share the impactful work of The HALO Trust, showcasing how geospatial technology is used to locate and remove land mines in conflict zones.
Earth Observation and Environment Session
OSNI will present on the new EO platform: OREO NI and DAERA will demonstrate how remote sensing is being used to monitor and protect blue-green algae in Lough Neagh
Infrastructure and Planning Session
Hear how organisations are tackling interoperability challenges using Geospatial Technology around utilities, infrastructure management and environmental planning, including a lightning talk by KPMG: “Leveraging AI to Evaluate Factors Impacting Safety of Cycling Routes – A Case Study of Inner-City Dublin”
Community and Skills Session
We will hear from Alastair Hamill from Lurgan College on work their school pupils are doing with Building geo-literacy to engage and empower communities in their area. Also Glen Bambrick will present insights from the 2024 GIS Skills & Salary Survey for Ireland
Closing Panel
Join us for a panel discussion on the key data interoperability issues impacting the geospatial sector in Northern Ireland, where you will have the opportunity to have your voice heard. (Panellists to be announced shortly!)
