London, 23 September 2025 – The Association for Geographic Information, the membership group for organisations and individuals working in geospatial, has announced a first of its kind event in the UK geo calendar. It can also reveal that Ed Parsons, Geospatial Technology Advisor and Google’s first ever Geospatial Technologist, will present a keynote presentation at the AGI Foresight Conference 2025, and will be joined on stage by representatives from Amazon Web Services, AtkinsRéalis, Idox Geospatial, and 1Spatial.
The AGI Foresight Conference will take place on the 13th November, 2025, at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) in London. The culmination of a 12-month project exploring the opportunities and challenges for the geospatial sector over the next five years, the event will feature other high-profile presentations from leading names from around the globe including government departments, international agencies, and global tech companies.
The event is expected to sell out quickly and, with discounts available for early bookings, AGI members, and students, interested delegates are being urged to act now to secure their place. Registrations are currently open at https://www.agi.org.uk/foresight-conference/ and non-AGI members will also receive a year’s free membership of the AGI with all bookings made.
“We are really excited at the calibre and standing of the speakers that are already confirmed and those we hope to be announcing in the forthcoming weeks as we finalise both the AGI Foresight 2030 report and conference programme,” commented Peter ter Haar, Co-Chair of the Association for Geographic Information. “We are also extremely grateful to the geospatial community for the support we have received for this project so far.”
Referencing previous Foresight Projects, the current work started with a wide-reaching survey aimed at identifying biggest themes, influences and developments, that will impact geospatial to 2030. Additional input has also been sourced from stakeholders working in government, commerce, academia, and research, in the form of one-to-one interviews. These results will be published in an independent report which will be launched at the conference on the 13th November.
“Foresight projects take big, cross-cutting issues, summarise the evidence, and explore future opportunities, and we have seen common themes, both from within the geospatial sector, and in other areas such as health, insurance, and big tech,” he continued. “These include, but aren’t limited to; Collaboration, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Twins, Earth Systems, and Data, and it is fascinating to hear how these resonate across different applications and locations.”
In addition to the contributions received in the form of content and feedback, the AGI is also offering a range of sponsorship opportunities and has already secured support from Cadcorp, CGI, Esri UK, GIS Jobs, Idox Geospatial, MGISS, Ordnance Survey, Ordnance Survey Northern Ireland, and Verisk. The AGI would also like to extend special thanks to the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) for its backing.
