The AGI Earth Observation (EO) Network held its latest event in February. Despite it being a rainy evening, we were delighted to welcome around 50 attendees to the Sat Vu offices in London, overlooking the Houses of Parliament.
Anthony Baker, CEO of Sat Vu who kindly sponsored this event, kicked off the meeting with an introduction to the company and high-resolution thermal imagery and discussed the future road map for the new platforms they will be launching.
Heath Pritchard, Head of Geospatial Market Policy at Department for Science, Innovation & Technology, then shared some insights from the cross government EO data provision pilots that have been undertaken and explored some of the thinking around access to EO data for government.
We then had some 1 minute Lightning Talks on subjects including the EO Data Hub, Research at Ordnance Survey, Geo Business, the linkage between landscapes, supply chains and communities, and the ESA-Future Earth Joint Programme. We also heard from Imago, an organisation that help make satellite imagery more usable and GIS-Point who provide back-office support and tools for Geospatial data.
Richard Flemmings, AGI Director and co-lead for the network, finished the presentation part of the evening talking about the AGI Foresight Report, and the event concluded with an active networking session.
Our next event is planned for May in Bristol.
