AGI Announces 2025 Excellence in Geospatial Awards

The AGI has announced its 2025 Awards for Excellence. Following a highly successful relaunch last year, the 2025 Awards will once again showcase innovation, achievements and best practice across the sector. Open to any individual, group or organisation that can demonstrate and communicate success through the use of geographic data, knowledge or technology, the AGI Awards are now open.

The 2025 AGI Award categories are ‘Chairpersons’ Award for Outstanding Service to the Geospatial Community’, ‘Geospatial Professional of the Year’, ‘Early Career Professional’, ‘Excellence with Impact’, ‘Environment and Sustainability’, ‘Innovation in Geospatial Technology’, and ‘Geospatial Collaboration & Partnership’ and winners will be announced and presented, in person, at GEO Business 2025.

Award submissions can be made via the AGI website with a closing date of the 4th April. These will be judged by a carefully selected panel of thought leaders and geospatial experts from academia, commerce and professional organisations, to ensure fair representation from across the sector. The AGI will also work closely with winners and nominated entries to ensure the communication of excellence and the sharing of best practice through the sector and the wider community.

Speaking at last year’s AGI Award presentation, David Henderson, Chief Geospatial Officer at Ordnance Survey and recipient of the 2024 Chairperson’s Award for Outstanding Service to the Geospatial Community, commented, “The AGI holds a special place in my heart and has been part of my geospatial journey for as long as I can remember so it is a real honour to be presented with this award. The AGI is inclusive and, through activities such as the annual awards, provides a platform to celebrate diversity, with members collaboratively developing the growth of the industry and the professionals that make it.”

Fergus Craig, Co-Chair of the Association of Geographic Information, added, “The 2024 award process, culminating in the presentation at GEO Business, gave the geospatial sector a huge amount to celebrate and recognise. Already underway, the 2025 Awards are showing the same promise. Once again, we are expecting an excellent calibre and volume of submissions, although this does make judging harder, and we are looking forward to coming together, as an organisation and community, at GEO Business to acknowledge and embrace the very best that geospatial has to offer.”
