AGI Greater Manchester Network Event – Another Resounding Success!

We were pleased to host the second AGI-Greater Manchester Network event yesterday afternoon, with the theme of ‘Underground Assets’. It was great to see so many new attendees at the event and many thanks to our sponsors at Tetra Tech for hosting the event in their office and to Informed Solutions for sponsoring the drinks following the event where engaging discussions were continued following the talks.

During the afternoon we heard from Ella Christie who presented the work that herself and Tetra Tech are doing in partnership with Sellafield to spatially enhance the utility network to help to digitally transform the site-wide infrastructure and utilities management.

Abigail Turner from AtkinsRéalis presented on the project they have undertaken in collaboration with others to build the National Underground Asset Register (NUAR) and the challenges they had to overcome with data acquisition. This was followed by James Wardroper from Ordnance Survey who was able to give an update on where the NUAR project has progressed to and the current Discovery work they have undertaken to understand how they can share the NUAR data wider.

Jenny Swain and Graham Martin from Mining Remediation Authority presented an insightful overview of how they are using geospatial data in partnership with BGS to identify opportunities to investigate the use of mine water as a sustainable heat source.

Following the great success we are pleased to start looking ahead to next event. If you would be interested in sponsoring the event either by providing a space to host the talks or sponsoring the drinks then please get in touch.
