2024 Highlights

AGI NI Conference at Riddel Hall
Our flagship event, the AGI NI Conference 2024, took place on June 13th at Riddel Hall, Queen’s University Belfast. Under the theme “Sustainable Futures: Geospatial Innovations and Impacts,” the conference brought together over 140 delegates and 9 exhibitors from across Northern Ireland’s geospatial community. With a diverse program, highlights included:

  • A celebration of Ordnance Survey in Ireland’s 200th Anniversary by Suzanne McLaughlin.
  • Cutting-edge solutions showcased by sponsors like Esri Ireland, Landclan, and KOREC.
  • Insightful discussions on AI, data analytics, Earth Observation, and Coastal Management.
  • A lively panel discussion on addressing the geospatial skills gap, moderated by Alex Donald.
Geodrinks Returned
Our October 10th gathering at The Boneyard was another standout event. This informal meet-up returned to our annual AGI Northern Ireland calendar events and was a fantastic platform for our community to connect, share ideas, and strengthen relationships.

Looking ahead to 2025
As we move into 2025, we’re excited to build on this year’s successes. Here’s what’s in store:

  • Annual AGI Northern Ireland Conference 2025: Mark your calendars for June, as we plan to bring another inspiring conference to Riddel Hall at Queen’s University Belfast
  • Webinar Series: Kicking off with “Geospatial Skills in todays GIS Job Market” in early 2025, and we aim to provide valuable insights and opportunities for professional development throughout the year with a series of webinars from multiple fields
  • More Networking Events: Expect more Geodrinks and informal gatherings to strengthen connections across our geospatial community
2025 promises to be another dynamic year for AGI Northern Ireland, and we look forward to working with all of you to advance the geospatial profession in Northern Ireland.
