AGI Scotland Annual Conference 2021 – More Speakers Announced

Registrations are still open for AGI-Scotland 2021 Annual Conference taking place on  the 23/24 February 2021 and we are delighted to confirm our keynote presentations from Neil Stuart (University of Edinburgh), Nick McWilliam (MapAction), Alan Corbett and Bruce Jackson (Scottish Government).

During this virtual format the conference will include ‘Signposted tables’ designed to provide space for conference delegates to meet and discuss specific topic areas.  Delegates will also have the ability to move freely between tables, which will run over the break sessions.

These signposted tables include:

  • The Early Careers Network (ECN) – ECN is a network of early career professionals, run by early career professionals. ECN will be there to help those in the early stage of their career journey including students looking to go into our sector, or colleagues who are new to it.
  • The Government Geography Profession (GGP)– the Government Geography Profession was established in 2018 to support geographical expertise across the public sector. If you’d like to discuss anything around the Government Geography Profession or other matters around the use of geospatial in government (both central and local).
  • The Location Data Scotland (LDS) – LDS is pleased to be at the launch of the new Location Data Scotland initiative, which is a community to unlock the value of location data. LDS will share more information on this initiative, which aims to connect, inform and facilitate collaboration between industry, academia, public and third sector, across multiple organisations, to drive innovation, unlock skills and enable economic growth. Please note this table is only available on the Tuesday, 23 February.

We will also be running a virtual Pub Quiz, which has kindly been sponsored by Esri on the evening of Tuesday, 23 February starting at 7pm. You can join as a virtual team or enter an an individual. Whilst we won’t be offering prizes for the quiz itself, between rounds we will be announcing winners of our raffle. Attendance at the quiz automatically makes you eligible for entry into the raffle so even if your geography knowledge isn’t great – you can still win a prize!
