Call for Action: Your Opportunity to Contribute to the Foresight Project – Deadline extended to Friday 28 March

The Foresight Project will Take Big, Cross-Cutting Issues, Summarise the Evidence, and Explore Future Possibilities. The Association for Geographic Information (AGI) are seeking contributions and inputs from all parts of the geospatial community.

2025 will see the return of the Association for Geographic Information (AGI) Foresight Project.

Last undertaken in 2015, to give insight into issues that would have significant impact on the economy, the environment, and society in the five years to 2020, this project built on previous work undertaken in 2010 looking forward to 2015.

The AGI Foresight 2030 Project will consider the biggest trends and themes impacting the geographic information sector over the next 5 years. The views and experiences of a wide range of stakeholders will be collated and analysed, culminating in an independent summary of the most significant future influences on the industry, wider society, and the physical, economic and political environments.

A project report will be published, and formally launched, at a dedicated event at the Royal Geographic Society (with IBG) in London on the 13th November 2025.

To start this process, AGI Council is seeking responses and feedback from across the geospatial community; including industry, government, academia, and the third sector. This consultation, in the form of an online questionnaire, will inform further thematic focus and lead to targeted detailed interviews.

Completing the questionnaire is expected to take approximately 15 minutes, and all inputs will be invaluable to shape the direction of the AGI Foresight Report.

To assist with more detailed analysis and exploration of themes raised it would be useful to understand more about the individuals and organisations taking part. To that end a number of professional and or personal questions have been included. By completing these questions and granting consent, you are allowing the AGI to reference specific answers provided, enable additional contact, and publish anonymised profile information for respondents.

Any direct queries can be addressed to info@agi.org.uk.
