EEO-AGIS Seminars for 2025 / 2026 season: announcing speakers and some changes

Its great to be back with a new academic year and we have an9ther fantastic set of speakers already li ed up. However,  before I introduce this year’s seminar agenda, we have some changes to announce.

Firstly, we are moving the seminars to a Wednesday slot. This reflects feedback that Friday has increasingly become a work from home day, making seminar attendance difficult for many. Responding to this feedback we will be trying a Wednesday slot this year.

Secondly,  we will be no longer provide an online stream of the seminars. The streaming was brought in during COVID and we have been keeping them going in a hybrid fashion. However, it is complex to set up in the different spaces we use, is distracting for the speakers and online numbers have significantly dropped as in person attendance has risen. I know this will disappoint some of you, but I hope you understand our decision.

So, that’s the changes announced, onto the good stuff! This year we already have four really high speakers lined up, the planned return of our collab with GeoMob, plus some more dates in the works. The confirmed seminars are:

  • 15th October : Doug McNeil (Founder & Managing Director of EOLAS Insight)
  • 12th November: Colin Morrison (Head of Data, Digital Connectivity at the Scottish Government)
  • 3rd December: Will Cadell (Founder & CEO of Sparkgeo)
  • January 2026: Pete Bunting (Reader in Remote Sensing at Aberystwyth University)
  • March 2026: EEO x Geomob collab

So please drop these in your diary, and I will share titles and abstracts in the coming weeks.

Thanks for your continued support, I’m really looking forward to seeing you all in October for our first seminar.
