Dr Christopher Tucker, author and Chairman of the American Geographical Society has been announced as keynote speaker for GeoCom19 which takes place in London on 24 October 2019.
The annual event, which is inspired by the UK’s commitment to hitting net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, is organised by the Association for Geographic Information (AGI) and includes speakers from government, industry and business.
“We’re living in a climate of change,” says AGI Chair, Matt Leaver. “Whether the challenge is environmental, social, technological, economic or political, we all have a part to play in finding the solution. Geospatial clearly has a key role to play in achieving net zero and GeoCom19 will examine the differences we can all can make to lead the change – from local to global initiatives. I am thrilled that Dr Tucker is joining us to share his belief that thinking geographically is vital to the future of our planet.”
“GeoCom19 promises to provide inspiration, insight and influence, as well as superb networking opportunities. I encourage everyone with an interest in the geospatial sector to come along and contribute their views on the next 30 years of geospatial technology development in the UK.”
Speakers confirmed for the one-day conference at the Royal Society include: Laura Sandys, Chair of the Energy Task Force; Paul Campion, Chief Executive of TRL; Rangan Sukumar, Senior Analytics Architect at Cray Inc; Tom Knights, Metro Partnerships at Strava; and Sir Andrew Dilnot, Geospatial Commission.
