Flood Risk Management Officer
Bio
Hi, I’m Amaechi Charanchi, a Flood Risk Management Officer with a passion for building climate-resilient communities through data-driven environmental planning and management.
Since January 2025, I’ve been working with a tier 2 local government to deliver sustainable drainage solutions, manage critical flood and water infrastructure, and provide expert geo-spatial advice. My work bridges the gap between geospatial science and real-world impact—whether it’s through coordinating drainage asset programmes or supporting emergency planning initiatives.
I hold a Master’s degree in Flood Risk Management from the University of Hull and a Bachelor’s in Urban and Regional Planning. My journey before this role includes several years as a GIS Analyst and Cadastre Officer, where I led teams, streamlined systems using GIS and Python, and supported high-profile land administration and mapping projects across Nigeria.
My core strengths lie in:
• Flood risk & drainage analysis
• Spatial data management & modelling
• GIS applications (ArcGIS, QGIS, HEC-RAS, Google Earth Pro)
• Stakeholder collaboration & team leadership
• Sustainable development & urban planning
I’m always eager to connect with fellow professionals, researchers, and organisations working at the intersection of environmental data, infrastructure, and resilience.
